Travel and Holidays in China
Andy Adams asked:

Here in the UK we are probably the country with the most diverse culture, and whilst sometimes this comes in to the news for all the wrong reasons (immigration etc.) it does however mean that we have adopted a lot of the inbound culture which has become interwoven with our own culture too.

If you go down any high street today you are likely to find restaurants of all varieties; Italian, Indian and Chinese mainly but with some others becoming popular too such as Mexican, South African and Polish too.  It is all very well us being able to try different cuisines in our own home town; it is one of the best things about eating in this country and our multicultural society, but wouldn’t you like to experience it in it’s home environment?

What could be better than being able to try the exotic cuisine direct from the source, going on holiday to India or Mexico would definitely get a more authentic taste of the culinary delights to be had.  With India being a perfect example; you may get a curry in the frozen food section of your local supermarket but that’s nothing compared to the intense flavour and aromas of an authentic curry cooked whilst you’re on holiday in the country.

Holidays to India have increased in popularity twofold since UK residents have become enticed by the exotic east and the beautiful architecture such as the Taj Mahal, couple that with the amount of Indian descendants who actually live here in the UK and it means that flights and Holidays to India are relatively cheap due to the sheer amount of comings and goings.

If you don’t plan on going that far a field in search of excellent food then there are still some destinations that can offer authentic local cuisine as well as a whole host more to do on your holiday.  Italy is a popular location for cheap holidays people have been taking to European cities in recent years, obviously home to Pizzas and almost any pasta dish.

Speaking from personal experience I can safely say that you’ll never order from the local pizza place once you’ve tried a traditional stone baked pizza with fresh toppings.  That is probably the only down side of getting authentic versions of your favourite takeaways; you’ll always be disappointed when you go back to the takeaway versions back home!

But don’t despair; a lot of these dishes could be recreated by yourself in the comfort of your own home.  Many people who go away on holidays to Spain and other locations will often observe the authentic recipes and techniques and try them when they return home.  Obviously you won’t have the leaning tower of Pisa in the background but you can still savour the taste of your holiday.

With many locations in Europe having their own local cuisine typical to that region you could make the most of your holidays by taking a cheap last minute holiday to various cities on the continent and experiencing authentic foreign food at the source.
