Mao Tse Deng’s Red Army defeated Chiang Kai Shek’s Nationalist army. The Communists established the People’s Republic of China on Oct. 1st, 1949. The Nationalists escaped to Taiwan which eventually formed a Democracy, although the Nationalists retained power under Chiang and his son for decades.
