Is global warming a scam run by China to drive up the cost of Western goods?

notadummyrat asked:

We spend fortunes on the envirnment and reducing or “carbon foot print” which of course gets added to the price of our goods and they spend nothing.

The funding for many USA based envirnmental groups has been found to originate in China.

Recently scientist said that just a single large volcanic eruption can put more carbon in the atmosphere then mankind has in all of recorded history. Thousands of volcanos erupt every year. How can we think our small contribution to atmospheric carbon could effect anything?

Al Gore was the guy that told us about the Y2K bug. Saying “planes will fall from the sky”. The USA spent billions fixing this “problem” (adding to the cost of our goods) yet nothing happened even in countries that spent nothing.

Isn’t it time to see past the hype? They are praying on your fears and have been for years.

  1. This is truly one of the craziest nonsensical arguments I’ve read in a long time!

  2. NO, China isn’t creating a media event to drive up prices in the west.

However, China IS driving prices up in the west…and everywhere else. They’re doing this by finally entering the modern world–and mostly because they’ve invested very heavily in several things over the last 20 years: building an extensive roadway system, expanding their petrochemical industries, and allowing a HUGE influx of western auto-makes inside the country to do business.

One doesn’t see too may of those “oceans of bicycles” pictures from China anymore…they’ve paved their road, and are driving cars (more, and more all the time!). This, along with an expanded petrochemical industry have put massive demands upon the world’s oil resources…thus driving prices WAY up. This is why gasoline costs over $ 2 per gallon - simple supply-demand issues. But remember, oil gets used to make many, many products, not just gasoline—so prices for everything are going up.

Yep, you’re right about it being China’s fault, but not right about how it’s happening. The funny (or maybe, sad) thing is, China’s trying to “come of age” just as we’re about to run out of oil!

    What lousy timing!

    Ha ha.
