Paranoia. It is safer in China than in the US. I just got back: Beijing, Wuhan, Shanghai, Pudhong, Tanjing and others. Don’t let rumors stop you. It is very safe and fun. In any big city you should watch kids but I would feel safer in any of these than Mobil, Dallas, Atlanta and not to mention Chicago, LA and New York. Go and have fun.
