Rosenthal, made in Germany, is among the best china that can be found.
I purchased a twelve-setting placing of china and silverware in 1968 at the cost of $300. Such a purchase today would be in the four digits easily.

I love English bone china..Royal Albert, Royal Doulton , etc. If you prefer an American brand, I think Lenox is lovely as well.
